August Update!

Hello from KC! 🙌🎉

This has been a busy month.  August has been non-stop for us! From saying all of our goodbyes at Calvary Lake Ozark, to packing up our home on Osage Acres, moving to Lenexa KS, and starting our residency at Grace Church! We are so thankful for the many ways we have felt encouraged and supported through each of these big transitions.  There have been many moments where Mike and I have been in complete awe of how God has orchestrated each detail of this new adventure. And we are glad you are coming along with us!

Our New Home!

So far, we LOVE living in Lenexa, KS.  We live in what is called the City Center. It's a neat, up-and-coming community with plenty for us to enjoy! Kansas City is so cool!  Anything and everything is within a 5-10 minute drive.  So far we have enjoyed sitting on our little balcony, decorating our new space, and going on walks every morning and night.  Amigo loves it too!

Our New Church!

Grace Church is everything we were hoping for. You should check out the website! We spent the first two days meeting almost all of the staff and leaders who we will be working with and learning from.  It's not usual for the residency program to cater to a church planting couple like us (it's usually just the "dude") - but they are totally welcoming to me and allowing me to join in on everything as a "volunteer staff." We're obviously super thankful and excited about this!

As far as the program goes, we will be in several meetings each week, building relationships, meeting people, and learning about all the ins and outs of every part of ministry.  When we are not in meetings, we will be working on a 408 point check list that will take us all the way through September of next year (or when we plant!) and beyond! This list reminds me of wedding planning...each month prior to the wedding has different tasks to be completed, getting more and more detailed as the big day approaches.  So at this point, we are mainly tasked with a lot of research and reading. We'll keep you posted on what we are reading and what we are learning!

Prayer Requests

Thank you so much for those of you who have been praying for us!  We know God is listening and answering. Here are some specific things you can be praying about for us right now:

- Prayers for wisdom on how to plug in and serve at the church while we are here.  We are considering getting involved with the Greeting Team and Life Groups.  Of course I also want to get involved with Students...but I am just not sure what we will have time for!

- That I would get a consistent substitute teaching position 2 days a week for extra income.

- For relationships to grow and connections to be made here at Grace

- Our church family in Lake of the Ozarks. For their continued search for the next Senior Pastor and all of the transitions being made there.

Thank you for following us on our journey! If you haven't done so already, you should hop on over to our Facebook and Instagram pages.  This is where you can find more frequent updates.

We are looking forward to all that God has for us, for you, and for Long Island! 🌱
